Get a fresh central heating boiler to save pounds

As the cold wintertime approaches the nights get longer and the coldness creeps in, so we must all be prepared, and the best way to do this is via a central heating system. If you have an efficient and safe central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug home.

The two basic types of central heating systems are called pumped and vented, both of which are made up of a heating boiler, central heating radiators and usually copper pipework.

Pumped systems are probably the more common ones and their main part is a feed expansion tank which acts as the centre core by heating up itself first to subsequently warm up the heaters via the pipes. The expansion tank will always allow for any water expansion that may occur as it gets hot.

There is also what is known as a sealed system in which no centre core is used to heat the central heating radiators. Since it is completely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. A sealed gas central heating system gets rid of the risk of water leakage, airlock formation and pipe freeze (a common problem in the harsh winters of countries like Russia).

So you might ask what is really the point of getting central heating?.

The simple answer is that it will allow you to heat your entire home or office quickly without compromising the air quality. Conventional heaters like gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters are also quite effective. However, these older heating methods make the air sticky and hard, and can also emit an unpleasant odour.

With gas central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your gas central heating system will require regular maintenance. Many families only use their central heating during the cold months and leave them entirely unused during the summertime, this is a common error. Instead it is advocated that you gradually bring them into use during autumn so that if you spot any problem you can quickly contact an engineer.

Airborne dust and other contaminants can also seep into the gas central heating system, necessitating periodic drainage and cleansing. The easiest way to do this is to gently open the valve and allow any water to fall into a bucket placed underneath.
