There are several configurations of Central Heating gas boiler

There are many different types of gas Central Heating Systems available to you. Almost all these systems have a heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to radiators.

In most parts of the UK air conditioning is hardly needed because of the average temperatures of those regions. Many of us find proper heating a necessity; as a result most of the new homes being constructed today are built with a Central Heating System.

Heating is vital, especially as winter is fast approaching. Only then you can relax and feel cosy inside your house. Your Gas Central Heating System needs to be reliable. It should be durable, easy to use and completely safe.

Vented (or pumped) and Sealed heating systems are the two most common types available.

Pumped/vented systems are the ones that many homes have and they have the most components resulting in potentially higher maintenance costs. A pumped/vented Central Heating System has a feed and expansion tank. Hot water from the storage tank supplies your kitchen and bath while also heating up the heating radiators. When the water expands as it is heated the expansion tank allows for this. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the attic area, taking up space. It not only heats the house, but also supplies hot water.

Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.

The sealed Gas Central Heating system is one that more and more people are opting for these days. As the name indicates, a sealed system is a an enclosed system therefore no expansion water tanks are needed. There are benefits to have this closed type of system with pipework and tanks being unnecessary.

- The problem of freezing pipes is eliminated.

- There is no need to maintain the tanks and pipes as there are not present.

- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.

- Unlike pumped/vented systems, air is not drawn through open vents so the possibility of airlocks, corrosion and sludge is much lower.

- It is possible to flush out the system if required by using the mains water supply.

The sealed Central Heating system is a fully packaged system with all the controls and safety devices already in place. The water for the system is provided directly from the main water pipe of the house. The pressure of the main water supply benefits the hot water outlets and gives a healthy shower.

Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure is very high in the system, then the water will escape from the safety valve, and if the pressure is too low, then the safety valve will open to let the water in.

Compared to any other form of heating, Gas Central Heating systems are by far the most practical and economical. Their ease of operation and versatility is much better than other types of heating.
